Brits will soon be able to fly to Florida in just FIVE HOURS | The Sun

BRITS will soon be able to fly to Florida in just FIVE hours after American Airlines announced a new deal with a supersonic plane manufacturer.

Currently it takes around nine hours to reach the Sunshine State from the UK, but the new deal will see that time almost halved.

That means holidaymakers from the UK will have quicker access to places like Disney World, Universal Studios, Miami and the Everglades.

Aviation company Boom Supersonic has been working on its Overture planes and has already sold 20 of the aircraft to American Airlines, with the option of 40 more.

The planes are being designed to carry 65 to 80 passengers at twice the speed of today’s fastest commercial aircraft.

Boom hope the super quick planes will eventually fly more than 600 routes around the world.

They estimate that flights from Miami to London would be completed in just under five hours.

The final designs of the plane were unveiled in July this year and it is expected they will begin rolling out the aircraft in 2025.

The hope is that the Overture will carry its first passengers by 2029, meaning five-hour trips to Disney World could be just seven years away.

Derek Kerr, American’s CFO said: “Looking to the future, supersonic travel will be an important part of our ability to deliver for our customers.
