You could be off-roading in Utah and Colorado in red-rock deserts, where you’ll also sip cocktails at the hotel from The Shining and taste draft beer in Denver.

Or try watching lucha libre wrestlers in Mexico City, exploring a cloud forest in Costa Rica and more.

California dreaming

Get a taste of California summers (hey, there’s always next year, right?) with coffee-table book Looking Sideways Vol 1: A Visual Exploration Of California Board Sports Culture.

Compiled by Metro contributor Matt Barr and photographer Owen Tozer from their journey from Ventura to San Diego, it features images of palm trees, beachscapes and lifeguard huts, alongside interviews with surfers and skateboarders.

Doon the mountain

The Nevis Blue Doon mountain bike trail has opened at the Nevis Range Mountain Experience near Fort William in Scotland.

At 650m on the mountain of Aonach Mòr in the shadow of Ben Nevis, the start is accessed using the mountain gondola. The top section of the trail is on open hillside with views across Fort William and Loch Linnhe.

It then heads into the forest and joins the huge network of trails at Nevis Range.
