Jet2 and Jet2holidays extend flights and breaks to Greece until November

JET2 and Jet2holidays have extended their flights and breaks to Greece up to November.

The airline and package holiday company have added more flights and holidays to Zante, Crete, Rhodes and Kefalonia.

Almost 80 new flights have been added in October and November, as well as an expanded choice of 2-5 star hotels.

The extension of the holiday season coincides with growing concern that foreign holidays will be off the cards for the peak summer season.

A number of ministers, including the Transport Secretary Grant Schapps have poured water on the idea of foreign travel this summer.

The recent introduction ofthree mandatory tests for anyone travelling into the UK is also likely to dampen the appetite for holidays abroad, as the cost of multiple tests is prohibitively expensive for a family of four.

It is hoped that foreign holidays could become increasingly likely towards the end of the year, as talk grows of a third booster vaccine shot for Brits in the autumn.

The new flights added are as follows:

Zante – 34 new flights from Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted.

Rhodes – 20 new flights introduced from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted.

Crete (Heraklion) – extra flightsfrom Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted.

Kefalonia – extra flying from Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Manchester.

The Greek Prime Minister has made it clear that the country will be open for holidaymakers this summer, and those who have already received the vaccine could benefit from easier entry than others.

Speaking on television, he said: "A vaccine certificate would allow you to enter Greece without being forced to provide a negative test and without any quarantine restrictions and we do intend to go down that path.

“For those who have not been vaccinated the most likely scenario is that we will request some sort of negative test, we want to make it as easy as possible for them to travel to Greece."
