The most lusted-after spots in Britain during lockdown – The Sun

BRITS cooped up in their houses during lockdown are pining after family days out and nature spots.

Among the top spots in Britain are Trebah Garden in Cornwall, whale watching in Gairloch and Audley End Miniature Railway in Essex.

In the past two weeks, Bimble – an app allowing you to collect, save and share your favourite places – has seen an 70 per cent uplift in web traffic, with users looking to creating lists of post-isolation destinations.

But instead of busy beaches and popular tourist spots, the trend has been for more hidden gems.

Walking trails, outdoor adventure parks and gardens are increasingly popular and instead of restaurants, members of the public are also looking for foodie experiences.

Bimble's CEO Francesca Howland told Sun Online Travel: “We’ve seen a sharp increase in people across the UK creating lists of places they love and aspire to visit.

"Likewise, users in other countries are following this local trend by listing places close to their own homes”

Francesca continued: "We have seen people planning all kinds of holidays – listing great little hotels, beaches and coffee shops in far flung places, as well as some wonderful staycation ideas up and down the country.

“It’s great to see that people are looking over and above the more obvious tourist spots in search of hidden neighbourhood gems."
