The underrated European city break getting new BA flights – with £21 hotel rooms & £1.70 beers | The Sun

BRITS will soon be able to fly to an underrated European city after British Airways announced it would be operating new flights.

The airline will launch a three-times weekly service from London Heathrow later this year, with return fares available from £73.

The flights to Latvian capital Riga will run from October 29, giving Brits the perfect opportunity to explore the lesser-known city break option.

Riga is the largest city both in Latvia and the Baltic states.

It's home to the world’s largest food market and is renowned for its food scene, alongside eclectic architecture and lush green spaces.

It's also pretty affordable, with pints in the city available from as little as €2 (£1.70).

The Savvy Backpacker explained: "Riga’s cheap prices, super cheap booze, bustling nightlife, and beautiful scenery make it an ideal location for budget travellers.

"Beer in a bar costs about €2-€3. Beer from a grocery store is €1 (86p) or less, a bottle of wine about €6 (£5)."

Hotels in the city are fairly affordable too, with some places available online from £21 per night.

However, for those less interested in arranging everything themselves, package options are available too.
