Missing woman found dead inside home after disappearing for days as man arrested

A MAN has been arrested after a young woman who had disappeared for days was found dead at a home.

The 36-year-old is being quizzed by murder cops after the victim was discovered with fatal injuries inside a property in Coventry, West Mids.

The woman, 32, was tragically found by cops who forced their way into a second-floor flat on Thursday afternoon.

She had not been seen or heard from since the weekend before officers made the gruesome discovery.

West Midlands Police said it was "clear nothing could be done to save her" and believed she had been dead for "several days".

The suspect – said to be known to the victim – was detained on suspicion of murder after being arrested at the home in the Bell Green area of the city.

A woman, aged 67, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender after allegedly trying to stop police entering the property.

Both suspects were taken in for questioning.

Coventry Police chief inspector Paul Southern, said: “This is truly tragic and our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends. We have assigned a specially trained Family Liaison Officer to support them at this time.

“We suspect the woman may have died several days ago; the last confirmed sighting of her was on Saturday, 15 January.

“We’re carrying out house-to-house enquiries at the flats and trawling CCTV, but I’d appeal to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious there in recent days to get in touch.”

Detectives and forensic investigators were photographed going in and out of the property on Thursday.

CCTV has been seized and the murder scene and house where the arrests were made have been sealed off.

A post mortem examination is due to take place today to determine how the woman died.
