Emily In Paris Lucien Laviscounts career from Waterloo Road to Big Brother

Everyone was talking about the handsome British actor after watching season 2 of Emily in Paris. However, before he became fan-favourite Alfie, Lucien Laviscount, 30, rose to fame on a number of British soaps.

Here we take a look back at his career history with some shows fans may have forgotten he first starred in.

After being absent from our television screens for eight years, Waterloo Road just made its comeback on BBC. Adam Thomas and Katy Griff from the original cast returned to play Donté and Chloe, however Lucien also originally starred in the show for 18 episodes as Jonah Kirby. His character was best-known for his controversial relationship with his teacher Francesca ‘Cesca’ Kirby.

Before Waterloo Road, Lucien also had recurring roles on BBC One series Grange Hill, when he was just 14, playing the role of Jake Briggs, as well as Coronation Street, Skins, Shameless and Casualty.

In 2011 he moved into the Celebrity Big Brother house on Channel 5, finishing fifth and making it to the final week. On the show he was caught up in brief romances with both Kerry Katona and Amy Childs.

He confessed to housemate Amy he was "head over heels" with Kerry. However, he later grew closer to the TOWIE star, telling Big Brother: “You know what, Amy is a solid girl and as time has gone on, I've seen more and more of her and she's cool.”

After leaving the show Lucien and Kerry continued to date despite their 12 year age gap, taking part in an OK! Exclusive shoot where Lucien vowed to marry her. However, they split shortly after with Kerry revealing the age gap "held them back" following a "friends-with-benefits" relationship.

In 2015 Lucien appeared as a series regular on season One of Fox's horror-comedy series, Scream Queens, as the character Earl Grey. He was set to play the lead in the Supernatural: Bloodlines, a spin-off to the CW show Supernatural, which unfortunately was never picked up. He also starred in the TV adaptation of Snatch next to Rupert Grint and as Romeo in Still Star-Crossed.

Skip to 2023 and Lucien is now a household name thanks to his part as Alfie in the hit Netflix show Emily in Paris. When he was told Emily In Paris creator Darren Star wanted him to read for the show, he dropped everything to send his audition tape over.

Lucien revealed: "We jumped in the Zoom call, and I think we were scheduled to be on the call for about 15, 20 minutes, and we were on there for about an hour. Lily had just finished four days of work—bless her heart.

“She was a real soldier just jumping on that call and speaking about my potential storylines. The whole time I was expecting to read my scenes again, and at the end of the call, they were just like, "We'll be in touch." And I got a call an hour later saying, "You're off to Paris." It was so quick."
