HAVE you seen the iconic Moulin Rouge! film? It’s certainly a memorable film… but is that for the right reasons? Some call it a classic, but does it deserve to be?

With a score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes and 76% on IMDb, the film performed well with audiences and critics.

That being said, not everyone loved it.

So, Sun Bingo wants to know once and for all… is Moulin Rouge! a good movie?

Cabayay – it’s a hit

There’s so much to love about this film. It has such an iconic soundtrack that you can’t help but sing along.

Combining Lady Marmalade, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Because We Can creates an awesome sound that captures the essence of the Moulin Rouge.

Then, Roxanne has you singing in your best gravelly voice. All of this is set against an epic set.

The colours and brightness make you giddy, just like someone really seeing the cabaret at the iconic Paris building.

Who hasn’t wanted to spend a night in that bejewelled elephant!

With talent like Ewan McGregor, Nicole Kidman and Jim Broadbent, you laugh, cry and fall in love with them.

It’s also nice to watch a love story that’s a bit different, with THAT ending certainly not what you expect.

It definitely can-can be called a classic.

Cabanay – not for me

Multiple watches later and you might still not sure what the plot is about.

It’s like you’ve missed an important part of the film and are trying to catch up for the rest of the movie.

But, you haven’t missed a bit. You watched the whole 2hrs and 7mins.

What a long 2hrs and 7mins that turned out to be. When the film’s pace is so fast, how can it also feel slow?

The whole thing is a blur of choppy editing that leaves you feeling motion sick.

It moves so quickly that there’s no time to invest in the characters, they just zoom past.

It’s the same for the romance between Christian and Satine.

They barely know each other and suddenly they’re professing their undying love for each other. What’s that about?

Cabaret Room

There’s a Sun Bingo room that just HAS to be mentioned in this discussion.

However, there’s no deliberating about whether it’s good or not. We all know that it’s fantastic.

Step inside the Cabaret Room…

Open from 8am to 11:59pm daily, the Cabaret Room offers 90-ball games.

That means there’s three chances to win per game (1L, 2L and full house).
