As the cost of living crisis worsens, many people are worrying about the cost of the upcoming festive season – particularly buying Christmas presents. Thankfully, money-saving expert Martin Lewis has come up with a solution.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Martin Lewis previously recommended Marks and Spencer’s (M&S’) £40 beauty advent calendar as a way of saving hundreds on Christmas presents. Martin advises buying one of the calendars, which contain full-size beauty products that work out at a fraction of their usual price, and splitting up the insides into separate Christmas gifts.

Now the M&S beauty advent calendar is back in stock for 2022, and it contains contents worth £300 – but costs only £40 when you spend £30 on the M&S website.

In an episode of the Martin Lewis Money Show Live in 2021, the consumer champion told viewers: “This is a way that you can bag beauty products at a fraction of the normal cost and they often sell out early.”

He continued: “This is the big one. I reckon it’s worth around £230, costs you £40, but you can only get it if you spend £30 on non-food stuff in M&S. The fact you have to spend £30, you may as well do that anyway because even for £70 if you want the stuff in it, it’s worth it.”

This year’s M&S beauty advent calendar is worth even more than last year’s, and contains £300 worth of products. Shoppers who spend £30 on the M&S website can get the advent calendar for £40 instead of £300, so it’s well worth doing.

If you want to get the calendar at a reduced rate, we recommend spending £30 on M&S’ budget £17 jumpers that are ‘so soft’ they can rival luxurious cashmere. If you want to slash heating bills, it’s also worth checking out M&S’ £25 dupe of the £65 Oodie.

This year’s beauty advent calendar contains nine skincare products, three bath and body, three makeup, two nail, two fragrance and six haircare products. The calendar features designer names such as L’Occitane, Clinique and REN.
