Naomi Osaka Shares Her Off-Duty Favorites

There are plenty of reasons Naomi Osaka might be on your radar right now: her powerful athleticism, her frank public discourse about mental health, her confident demeanor on the cover of the latest Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Whether she's dominating another match or speaking out for what she believes in, the tennis star suddenly seems to be everywhere — and we can't look away.

But while most people know Osaka for her killer backhand and strong convictions, we've come to appreciate her as an expert in self-care. For InStyle's latest August Badass issue, she spoke to us about some of the things that make her most happy, from the music streaming service she considers a kind of therapy (Tidal, FYI) to her ideal meal (anything with smoked salmon!) to the clothing items she likes to buy in bulk. And, of course, there's a steady rotation of side hustles, including a soon-to-launch skincare line for women of color, Kinlo, and starring role in a Japanese Manga series. Not to mention another little endeavor in Japan: The Tokyo Olympics, where she'll be competing on the host country's team.

"I love exploring new business ideas based on my passions," says Osaka. "I also like to find ways to give back and empower others."

Keep scrolling for more of Osaka's favorite products, places, and projects of late.

Swim Staple

Frankies Bikinis x Naomi Osaka

This summer I'm living in designs from my Frankies Bikinis collaboration. I love a bright bathing suit that complements a woman's natural curves.

top ($80) and bottom ($85); frankiesbikinis.com.

Creative Outlet

I'm a big fan of anime and manga. I get lost in the stories.

Off-Duty Uniform

Levi’s Jeans

After a hard day of training, I can't wait to get out of my athletic clothes. Great-fitting jeans are one of my staples. I buy multiples of jeans, because I like almost every style and design; high-waisted and boyfriend are my go to fit. I also never run out of Nike socks because between training and my sneaker obsession, I'm always in need.

$90; levi.com.

Beauty Essential

I wear sunscreen daily and constantly reapply to shield myself from harmful rays. One of the reasons I wanted to start my new skincare company, Kinlò [debuting this fall], is to educate people of color on proper safety for melanated skin tones and provide protection that works.

Cool Kicks

Nike Sneakers

I almost never leave the house without a pair of Nikes. They're classic and elevate my look.

$135; ssense.com.

Perfect Purse

Louis Vuitton Bag

My Louis Vuitton crossbody is my No. 1 bag of all time.

$2,630; louisvuitton.com.

Instant Pick-Me-Up

To stay hydrated [during a workout], I always have Bodyarmor Lyte and a piece of fruit, such as watermelon, with me.

Creature Comforts

It's music for me. I love exploring new artists and scrolling through Tidal. Something about it is very calming and relaxing, and I would probably say music is therapy to me. I also enjoy a nice cup of green tea.

Happy Place

I love Japan and can't wait to explore it more. Tokyo, in particular, has an unexplainable energy. I always look forward to enjoying its cuisine and learning more about my heritage.

Arm Candy

Tag Heuer Watch

Being a brand ambassador for Tag Heuer has been an amazing experience because we both value precision and high performance. My go-to watch from their line is the Carrera Montreal because of its unmistakable dials and face.

$6,750; tagheuer.com.
