Showcase Cinemas is giving away FREE popcorn this weekend

FILM fans can get free popcorn at Showcase Cinemas this weekend to celebrate the reopening of screens across the UK.

Showcase Cinema Insider members can claim their free portion of sweet or salty popcorn on Sunday.

Each ticket-holder that has signed up as a Showcase Cinema member will be able to claim a free small portion of popcorn.

The offer is only available to members and over-15s can join for free online on the Showcase website.

You can also find your closest Showcase Cinema on the firm’s website.

Remember to take along the temporary membership card that will be emailed to you when you sign up, and simply show it to the ticket office to claim your freebie.

A permanent card will be sent to you in the post but won't arrive in time for your Sunday film showing.

You must also have a valid ticket to a film showing on Sunday to claim your free snack.

Showcase said the deal was in celebration of the return of the big screen after cinemas reopened their doors on May 17 following months of closure in the latest Covid-19 lockdown.

The cinema chain also said the freebie is to mark National Popcorn Day, which was on January 19 when screens were closed.

As well as claiming free popcorn on June 6, Insider members can also earn 10% rewards on tickets, snacks and drinks, discounted admission at off-peak times and access to advance screenings.

Showcase Cinemas UK general manager, Mark Barlow, said: “It has been amazing to see so many smiling faces back inside our cinemas this month.

“People have missed a lot over the past twelve months, but we don’t want to wait until next year to celebrate our favourite film snack and so will be hosting a belated National Popcorn Day this Sunday.

“Insider members can grab their free small popcorn at their local Showcase, so sign up now for this and many more benefits.”

Cinemas reopened last month but Covid restrictions are still in place, so make sure you know the rules before you head out to catch the latest releases.

Other cinema chains have launched special offers to welcome customers back to the big screen – here's a round-up of other ways to save money on a trip to the flicks.
