For those who don’t drink coffee or tea, nothing quite compares to a hot chocolate. And when it comes to making the perfect cup at home, the past few years has seen the Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser reign supreme as the kitchen gadget to have. With its £99.95 price tag though, it doesn’t come cheap.

It’s no secret we’re all looking for ways to save money this Christmas, especially with the cost-of-living crisis, and bargain supermarket chain Aldi has once again delivered.

This time, they’re offering their own Special Buy hot chocolate maker – and it’s a fraction of the price of its high-end competitor.

Similar in more ways than one, the Aldi Ambiano Copper Hot Chocolate Maker retails at £39.99.

With its sleek, black design (that is also available in copper) and operating at the touch of a button, hot chocolate lovers need simply pour their milk and chocolate of choice – the Aldi website recommends opting for grated chocolate flakes – into the hot chocolate maker to enjoy silky smooth hot chocolate in no time.

The automatic switch off means there’s no guessing when it’s ready, so you’ll have deliciously frothy hot chocolate every time.

Easy to clean, just rinse the inside of the main unit with water and wipe with a dry cloth. It has a non-stick coating, but for any stubborn residue wipe the inside with a soft cloth and a mild detergent before rinsing again.

The lid and whisks should be washed with soapy water and rinsed thoroughly after each use.

There are currently over 200 5-star reviews on the Aldi website and the gadget has previously sold out almost instantly twice, so this really is a great option for shoppers wanting to spend less but still make barista-style hot chocolate.

One reviewer wrote: “Best chocolate I have had. Absolutely amazing you get a decent machine and great value,” while a second agreed, writing: “takes your hot chocolate game to the next level. 100% recommended.”

With three operating modes; froth milk, heat milk, and froth cold milk, the hot chocolate maker also works as a stand-alone milk frother for those looking for the perfect finish to their cappuccino or latte.

“Perfect machine for both hot and cold frothy milk drinks. Makes the best cold coffee to pour over ice,” one shopper shared.

Similarly, another five star review revealed “Just brilliant – use this everyday not only for chocolate but matcha latte too.” Either treating yourself or as a Christmas present, customers could save £60 by choosing Aldi’s affordable alternative to the Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser.

Famous for their Special Buys, Aldi often offers popular products that are released every Sunday and Thursday.
